We develop vigorously the education, which has the extremely important practical significance on the science and education strategy and the sustainable development strategy.Since reform and opening up, Chinese educational cause has been developing rapidly success, but there are also a lot of not satisfactory. The education between urban and rural areas is still larger gap. The results show that the educational gap between urban and rural areas is the most important and the most remarkable one in the gaps between urban and rural areas. The gap between urban and rural education has already become one of the focus problems, our government priority must be to solve this problem. The 17th party congress has proposed"learning and teaching", it is great summon and declaration of age. In order to ensure"learning and teaching", the education fair is a very important precondition. Fair education is the key valve of constructing a harmonious society. In the new stage of new century, we must promote education fair in China. How to vigorously reduce the educational gap between urban and rural is a very key problem. If not, education fair will not only lose a solid support, but also development of urban and rural and social harmony and stability are impossible. Narrowing the education gap between urban and rural, and promote the balanced development of education, and vigorously improve China's education level, it will bring great and significant effect.This article takes Marx and Engels'theory about of education gap between urban and rural areas, and the western economists'theory about of education gap between urban and rural as the foundation of theoretical analysis. Besides it makes analysis the damages of education gap between urban and rural to our country. Combined with the current situation of gap between urban and rural education in our country, and completely investigating some problems of the education gap between urban and rural areas, and putting forward proposals for reducing the education gap between urban and rural.The full paper altogether is composed of four parts:First part focuses on the summary of theory in the educational gap between urban and rural areas. First, the author introduces the definition of education gap between urban and rural areas, which including the concept of the urban or rural and educational gap. Second, we deeply summarize Marx and Engels'theory about of education gap between urban and rural areas, including the understanding of educational labor, the educational expenses, and Marx and Engels'idea of educational equity. Third, the author analysis on western economists'theory about of education gap between urban and rural areas. It consists of human capital theory, education investment theory, and education equality theory.The second part pays attention to the education gap between urban and rural areas or analysis of influencing factors. This part consists of two main aspects: opportunity of education between urban and rural, and education quality. The opportunity of education between urban and rural is measured by the opportunity of education between urban and rural at the stage of compulsory education and the stage of non-compulsory education. In addition, this part also amply analysis to influencing factors of education gap between urban and rural areas. It includes those Chinese unreasonable educational policies, enlargement of income differential between China's rural residents and urban residents, the problems of education investment and resource allocation, or urban and rural residents on understanding gap of education investment.Third part deals with the damages of education gap between urban and rural to our country. It would stop and destroy the economic development, damage social fair and justice, or threat social stable.Fourth part reflects to effective countermeasure of shortening the differences between urban and rural education.
