Between compulsory education and high education, the general high schools are high-level stage of modern basic education, sending excellent students to higher schools and qualified labors to society. However, recently purpose of it mainly focuses on further study and ignores others who failed to pass the entrance exam for high schools, so that these failures surge into society without any preparation for vocations. Others also need receive education about career in the stage so that they may choose majors they are mostly interested in, know how to arrange their own college lives. Research shows that, without receiving relative career guidance, students are lack of career awareness, know little about themselves, variety of vocation and qualification for employees. They don't know how to make decisions, especially when facing some important ones (such as choosing majors or deciding which is better for him or her , arts or science), they are dependent on their parents or teachers. It always comes to a failure. Therefore, it's necessary and urgent to enforce career education in our basic education. Career education aims to help students know themselves, society and explore possible future, at last lead and enjoy an ideal, successful life.After comparing career education with its relative words, chapter one tells us developmental history of career education theory and summarizes the main ideas of it. Career education should be for all people, kindergarten through adult, gradually form self-led, self-improved abilities. Career education, in which Karl Marks' theory about people's full development is easily found, requires abolishing old-fashioned people cultivated pattern. It emphasizes the fact that we try to establish vocational value in common education and shorten the distance between them.The second chapter consists of two parts: the estate career education in Hong Kong Taiwan and Mainland. It firstly collects and analyzes related articles and introduces its curriculum design. In order to students' career preparation and needs, It makes an investigation and offers correct basis for next step.On the basis of analyzing American career education, according to general high schools and students' physical and mental characteristics now, the third chapter gives some concrete, rational suggestions about principles, content, patterns we should obey during the whole enforcement process in our general high schools.
