| Purpose:Through studying the health consciousness of 725 directors in 7 colleges in Urumqi city,the study revealed that it was significant to train and to strengthen the health consciousness.Methods:1.Studying different documents.2.Questionnaires.3.Discussion and interview.4.Data statistical analysis.Through applying the above mentioned methods, we collected different information and built a data base of participants.It included basic information,disease information,family medical history,indicators of physical examination,exercise,eating habits,private hobbies,life style,economic conditions,and psychological conditions.Results:1).Health condition and health awareness.23.31%of all participants have past medical history.18.48%knew little about their past medical history.Concerning their history of present illness,diseases of digestive system, respiratory and digestive system were three main diseases to trouble the interviewees. They made up 16.28%,15.59%and 9.24%of all participants separately.20.28%of participants took part in medical examination last year.17.70%of participants took medical examination two years ago.1.10%never did it.They could only understand the results of the medical examinations superficially.About 90%of participants could not understand the indicators of blood test and urine analysis.2).Exercises and the physical training.Comparing with the people who did physical training,the interviewees who seldom did exercises made up 67.72%of all.There were some differences between males and females and among people of all ages on physical training(p<0.01).61.11%even had less than 1-hour training schedule and 12.55%never did any exercises.Taking a walk was the major exercise they did.For males,out-door training was more frequently done.This was 30.02%of all males.Females preferred to in-door training.This made up 25.25%of all.3).Working conditions,life styles and eating habits.Generally speaking,most of participants worked more than 8 hours with high pressure.64.28%worked more than 8 hours.66.48%thought that were too busy.78.48%felt high pressure of their jobs.48%of participants had less than 8 hours to sleep.57.10%slept badly.Diet and eating habits were unreasonable.There were differences between males and females on smoking cigarette and drinking alcohol(p<0.01).56.60%of males smoked cigarette and 90.82%drank alcohol.4).Mental health.94.35%think it was necessary to strengthen the education of mental health.Only 29.10%think learning knowledge of mental health serves their own needs.78.21%of universities have Psychological consultation centers.But only 19.17% of participants sought for help there.Conclusions:We have no reason to be optimistic about the results of this research.Most of interviews have no correct health awareness. High pressure,long working schedule and heavy work are the three main reasons to explain why the participants lack a general understanding of health.Doing less exercises and bad eating habits cannot be overlooked.To sum up,the health and health consciousness of directors in different colleges should be improved and strengthened. |
