Since the end of 90's of 20th century, the development of global informationization has being speeding up and economic structure has being adjusted, alone with the application of new information technology (I.T.) which characterizes the Internet as the core. However, at standpoint of sociology, the social issues inevitably rise in company with the application and development of new technology. Digital gap, which means the disparity of information and knowledge acquired because of the gap of usage of information technology and internet, come to the surface. Meanwhile, China is in her social transformation, many social inconsistencies intensify and the disparity between countryside and urban sharpens. Therefore, these issues must be well studied. Although Digital gap is such a common social issue, its representation, causation and impact are different because of different social backgrounds. I did research in Digital gap using the "social-technology" pattern as the frame of the dissertation. The dissertation consists of the following chapters:Chapter1: Present the background; review the status in Digital gap research internal and external, clarify the purpose of research, significance and basic idea, define Digital gap and its emulation, represent the research methods used in this article.Chapter2: Make a picture that what the Digital gap is like now internal and external, and analyze the trend and social affects. I adopted 4 concrete index variables to measure Digital gap which appears as a technology disparity directly. The gap in occupies and usages of I.T. between cities and countryside inevitably lead to the "Information assets disparity".Chapter3: Trace the reason why there is a Digital gap between countryside and urban in China. The informationization in China is part of that in world, whose rapid steps spur the process of forming Digital cities, especially big cities in China, while the steps toward informationization are much slower, and that deepens the gap on the one hand; on the other hand, the dualistic structure in China testifies the inevitability that Digital gap exists. I did research on the external and internal reasons from macro and micro aspects.Chapter4: Put forward the countermeasures to shorten the gap. China is in his primary development of informationization, while the impact caused by Digital gap is still reflect incompletely, But, so it will if we let it go without any moves. I think the key is in the informationization of countryside. In order to reduce the affect caused by Digital gap, we should let the government lead the way that propelling the process of informationization in countryside in harmony with the development of cities by utilizing the internet and seizing the opportunityChapter5: Conclusion. Generalize the content and significance of the dissertation from both realistic and theoretical sides. List the deficiencies and issues to be further studied.
