Inregard to how to balance two value oriemtation of mathematicseducation(usefulness value and thinking training value),questionnaire survey method and interview are used to discuss how toreinforce the teaching of mathematics usefulness and to solveteaching problem arised from the extensive characteristic. We makeanalyses from four aspects including that the aims ofmathematics-usefulness teaching, the treatment of textbooks, therules of teaching of mathematics usefulness and the requirement ofmathematical teachers. The viewpoint that the teaching ofmathematics usefulness is a process using mathematical knowledge,mathematical methods and mathematical ideas to study the objectworld are explicitly posed; the intention of teaching of mathematicsusefulness is to foster the students' ability of mathematilize, problemsolving, and creativation; teachers can take mathematical reality,mathematization and mathematical knowledge as teaching rules ofsolving the problem in mathematics itself. In the meantime, highmiddle school teachers should have right view of mathematics andmathematical teaching, having a positive attitude of teaching ofmathematics usefulness, and improve consciousness of mathematicsusefulness as well as their own ability in mathematics usefulness. Inhigh middle school teaching, teachers ought to choose and processtextbooks proriately while strenghthen designing ability atmathematical problems; teachers are required to make studentsparticipate in the process of mathematization and use mathematicalknowledge to solve problems in mathematics itself; make studentsfeel the characteristic of extensive usefulness of mathematics,reinforcing their consciousness and improving their ability ofmathematics usefulness. A case study of usage of function is used to indicate theimplement and effect in high middle school teaching of mathematicsusefulness. Further, the case could make clear how to reflectextensive usefulness of mathematics in mathematical classrooms andexplain its relationship with high middle school teaching. The thesisproposes that teaching of mathematics usefulness strenthenes thestudents' consciousness of mathematics usefulness and help studentsobtain a high level of thinking training through usefulness learningand practice. Meanwhile, students' ability of mathematics usefulnesscan be raised gradually.
