This project conducts a research on Zhangjian's thoughts and practices by documentary material, expert interview discussion, logical analysis and comparison etc. The study reveals that Zhang's sports education thoughts have undergone three phases: pre-term chivalrous spirits, mid-term balanced development of physical power and intelligence and late-term all-around development of virtues, actions, and arts. Even before the"to conjure designing school's rules", he has made sports a compulsory course. He focuses on holding extra-curricular sports activities and lead students to do"two-minutes exercise during break time",completely changing ththe histroy of school education with moral education and knowledge education and no sports education. Zhangjian actively favors contesting sports exercise and race and the students in his school have achieved top scores in far-east sports meeting and province-level sports. Under his sponsorship, Nantong hosted the first-term sports meeting. He also builds the first public stadium in Nantong of modern China. He has built up five parks in east, west, north, south and city center, and constructed many sports facilities, which serves as an important foundation for Nantong public sports. His early focuses and supports to Nantong's culture, education and sports have established a foundation for Nantong's sports education. Especially his sports thoughts of cultivating public with wholesome thoughts have propelled citizens in Nantong to form good sports consciousness and to voluntarily exercise in daily life. This awareness has been inherited and developed, which is the source of"sports home"and is the impetus for the city to bring up 15 world champions.
