The quality of P.E teaching will directly influence the realization of the cultivation of the P.E. teaching talents. Moreover, teaching method is an important part of the integrative structure of teaching process, the way and the means to realize the aim of P.E. teaching. Only by solving the issue of methodology, can P.E. teaching tasks be fulfilled at a high quality. In recent years people have gradually realized that teaching methods of P.E.occupy a unique place and play an important role, so they have made a lot of research and exploration in them in succession. In spite of some achievements there have been existing some problems and shortcomings in understanding and applying of them. Therefore, by means of the following methods: documental data, interview, typical research and questionnaire surveys, the author implements a comprehensive and deep survey and research into present conditions of teaching methods of P.E. in institutions of higher learning in Jiangsu province. The aim for this article is to promote the theory of teaching methods of P.E. to be more systematic and provide some theories and methodical basis for how to apply these theories into practice. Research results include the following aspects:1. With college sports curriculum reform continued to deepen, prompted a number of new teaching ideas generated, As PE teachers to understand the actual situation of inadequate or conservative thinking, some new teaching concept is not implemented very well to the public PE teaching practice.2. P.E. teaching method is that, during the process of P.E. teaching, teacher instructs the students to learn the contents of P.E. teaching, to achieve teaching goals and to fulfill teaching tasks with the synthesized use of instruments and means; it is an interactive activity between teacher and students, teaching and learning. 3. The utilization of the tradition teaching method in sports teaching still accounts for the very great proportion in the universities of Jiangsu Province,while these methods are disadvantageous to the development of the student's ability.4. University teachers in Jiang Su don't give the students full direction of study methods and the training methods, and at the same time, the teaching methods of exploring-oriented activities has not been fully used in the public PE courses, which lack of giving the students creativity and the chance of study exploration. All these factors have caused negative influence on the students'creativity.5. At present, the application of multimedia technology in Jiangsu Province universities sports teaching has very low frequency,and the overall level is quite low.6. The research on the teaching method is still insufficient to gym instructor in the universities of Jiangsu Province. While at same time, there are also many modernized, scientific teaching-method experiment and research which is undertaking, but the promotion of the achievements from the experiment and research has been relatively stagnant. So the achievements could not play its due role in practical teaching.On the basis of the above research results, the author gives some appropriate suggestions:1. Teachers should be aware of moderating usage of traditional teaching method and creative method. They should sum up experience constantly in practice to form their own set of characteristics of athletics teaching method on the purpose of achieving the best teaching results.2. Teachers should pay more attention to develop student's initiative study and research consciousness, to organize and guide student independent study activity, and to offer opportunities for students to create and explore learning, to enhance student sense of exploration.3. Teachers should correctly deal with the teacher and student's interaction relations in the teaching method, stress the individual differences, lay emphasis on teaching students in accordance with their aptitude, and overcome psychological obstacles.4. The athletics teacher should make change of traditional teaching ideas and models, emphasize on the application of the multi-media technique in the athletics to accelerate the modernization of teaching method and means.5. The construction of teaching force should be enhanced and the habits of using traditional teaching method should be broken. Teachers should renew their knowledge, engage in the creative work and promote the research of theories and experiments of teaching method.
