Application Of TBLT In Junior English Reading Class

Nowadays, people pay more attention to students than teachers in the field of education. The class becomes student-centered. In New English Curriculum Standard, the objective of English teaching is not only to improve students'comprehensive competence to use the language but also to call for a higher level in reading. That means English teachers have to change the teaching methods to improve the current reading teaching situation.This paper made a study on the application of task-based language teaching in junior English reading class for three purposes: First, this study aims to arouse students'interest in reading. Another goal of this paper is to explore some practical and effective methods for reading classes to improve the current junior English reading teaching. The last one is to test and verify the possibility of applying TBLT in junior English reading class and accumulate some useful experience of using TBLT.The author tries to make a study on the implementation of task-based language teaching in junior English reading class and mainly explores the definition of reading tasks, how to design a reading task and the framework of a task-based reading class. We also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of TBLT in reading classes and make some suggestions about the application of TBLT in junior English reading class. The result of the study shows TBLT makes English reading classes more active than the traditional ones. It motivates students well and fosters the students'comprehensive abilities to use the target language appropriately and fluently. Although there are some disadvantages and limitations that come from the current system and available conditions, it is possible to apply TBLT in junior English reading classes if teachers can design their lessons rationally and carefully.
