Issues on educational research of college foreign language teachers have drawn attention from the circle of foreign languages both home and abroad. However, the current researches are mainly focused on the description of the actual situations and are lacking of the analysis on the reasons for these situations. Based upon theories of psychology and education, this thesis discusses college foreign language teachers'awareness of educational research, their capability of educational research and the relation between the two. In addition to the discussion, questionnaires are used to examine how teachers'awareness of research and capability of research influence their situations of educational research. After the analysis and reflection on the statistical results, suggestions on how to improve the present situation and college teachers'research awareness and capability are offered.The thesis is divided into five parts.Part One is about the bringing forward of the issue, which introduces the goal and significance of the thesis.Part Two analyzes and redefines the terms on the awareness and capability of educational research in foreign language education, according to the literature on hand, which is the theoretical basis of the whole thesis. It also points out the relation between awareness and capability and the role that educational research plays in the development of foreign language teachers.Part Three is the survey which uses questionnaires as the means. It is empirical research, aimed at finding out the current situation of college foreign language teachers'educational research awareness and capability.Part Four is the reflection upon awareness and capability. Based upon the empirical research in the former part, it analyzes the influences that educational awareness and capability exert upon the development of teachers'research and the situation of research of the foreign language circle in our country as a whole.Part Five is suggestions on how to improve college foreign language teachers'awareness and capability of educational research, based upon the related theories and the empirical research.
