Survey Of Understand Of Basic Concepts About Single Variable Calculus Of Pre-service Teacher

Calculus is the foundation of modern mathematics,and take very important place in mathematics field. It is important to know the mathematics value, exalt thought ability realize the thought and ideas of the variation of mathematics. The basic concepts of calculus are central questions in modern mathematics, It is foundation of foundation.We investigated pre-service teachers conceptual understanding of calculus and their ability to solve calculus problems, we examined 275 pre-service teachers, Each pre-service teacher completed two parts of a written examination. The first part (part 1) consisted of problems emphasizing conceptual understanding but requiring little or no algebraic computation. Problems on the second part (part 2) required sound algebraic skills in addition to good conceptual understanding. Following the examination, We interviewed each student in order to assess their mathematical thinking course, and individual semi-structured interviews in order to learn that what are the reasons for choosing mathematics teacher as a career .Findings from qualitative data analysis of individual semi-structured interviews show the following:First, a lot of pre-service teachers conceptual understanding of calculus isn't accurate .and as the grade higher, the pre-service teachers'score gets lower.Secondly, pre-service teachers demonstrated much stronger algebra skills than their geometric skills.Thirdly, 80% of pre-service teachers'enthusiasm of'love for mathematics'were not strong.Based on those data and analysis, the paper also thinks about the reasons for the results.
