The Mate Selection Preference Of Contemporary Chinese And Influent Factors

Mate selection is an important psychological, cultural and social phenomenon. From 1910s, the studies about mate selection psychology was increasing and increasing, and made a lot of results in theory and practice. Compared, the research about mate selection was later in our country. At present, with the development of social economy, the change of history and culture, the mate selection psychology of contemporary Chinese has changed a lot, it is impossible that we use west theory. So, this research describes the criteria, behavior and view presently, through testing the west theory, explores the mainland model of mate selection preference of contemporary Chinese.Depending on the Chinese reality, we research the mate selection preference of contemporary Chinese through questionnaire. The research is divided two steps, first, through collecting advertisements, analyzes the content. Through specialist alone or collective analyzing, we select the variables. Then we classify and cope with initiated words, and code. Second, in the light of the first step results, the indicator system of mate selection of contemporary Chinese, and the model of gender difference, we compile the items and questionnaire, and pre-test. Through EFA, we decide the dimensions and items of mate selection preference of contemporary Chinese, and test its confidence and validity. Through revising, we made the formal questionnaire, and tested formally. Through CFA and confidence and validity analyzing of valid datum, it indicates that questionnaire has a good confidence and validity. Through correlating and regressing, it indicates that mate selection has difference on the gender, age, degree of learning and the states of family economy. The main results of the research are:(1)There are a lot of differences on the mate selection of contemporary Chinese;(2)The females pay an important attention to the male's view of love, marriage and family, virtue. That is the females desire that males are feeling, conscientiousness, honesty and reliability; however, the desires to the social economical conditions, stature and the history of marriage of males are lower increasing and increasing. At the same time, the desires to enterprise of males are higher increasing and increasing.(3)The males pay an important attention to the age, stature, history of marriage, career and property of themselves, but don't take care the virtue and lives interest of themselves. The desires to the moral quality and faculty of females are increasing drastically. However, the desires to the features and health of females are lower.(4) Such as age, gender, career, degree of learning, and so on, these factors affect drastically the mate selection preference.
