Research On Student Model In E-Learning

The personal teaching is the trend of network teaching development. Student model can provide important information related with learning for the personal teaching system. To establish a sharable, dynamic student model can strengthen mutually operation of systems, raise the share of data and cut down needless repetition. Also, it can provide scientific basis for personal teaching.Based on CELTS, learner profile and Web data mining, the paper mainly deals with designing student model in e-learning. The main work includes:(1)According to the requirement of personality service in e-learning, the paper designs a dynamic student model after studying distance education standard around the world and analyzing learner profile in Web-based distance education. The student model is separated into two parts: specific information model and non-specific information model.(2)Specific information model is to evaluate the accepted level of new knowledge for students. It divides knowledge into some knowledge items, describes knowledge items and the partial order relation between them, and evaluates the grasped level of new knowledge item based on the content, exercise and test, which students have done.(3)Non-specific information model defines learner basic information, learner preference information and recommend information based on CELTS and learning style. After studying the Web data mining, some important concepts are designed, such as Web access frequent item-sets, Web access association rules. Then, it analyzes Web access transaction and provides recommend content to the students applying the Web data minding technology with the association rules.(4)The student model is described by Extensible Markup Language and saved in database.The student model presented in this paper is more integrated. It estimates students' basic information, preference information and knowledge state. The student model can track the students' learning state and interest change dynamically, and be reused in many situations.
