The key points of quality-oriented education are to foster the spirt of innoving spiritual and to raise the ability of practice. However the elementary education in China pays much attention to caccepting kownledge and mechanical memorizing, which can't adapt to the request of quality-oriented education .Therefore the new curriculum emphasizes that the teacher's idea in teaching and the student's way of learning should be changed.Under the new curriculum, the students/ learning should be characterized as participating proactively, researching gladly and communicating initatively. It can improve the students' ability of collecting and handling the information, the ability of acquiring new knowledge, the ability of analyzing and handling the problem, and the ability of communicating and cooperating. So it can achieve the goal of the elementary education curriculum reforms which emphasizes on forming the students/ positive learning manner rather than learning knowledge. When they learn the basic skills and the elementary knowledge, they learn how to learn and form the correct sence of values.This paper includes mainly the follwing three parks. Firstly, after elaborating the connotation, characteristics and rationale of the high school geography educational model, I set up structure the goal, the sequence of operation the teaching strategy and structure to implement the research-based teaching model in geography of high school. Secondly, I implement the research-based geography teaching in the freshmen/ class.Finally, I evaluate the performance of the implementation of the research-based teaching. Through one year research, the results proved that it is feasibilie to implement the research-based teaching in the teaching process.
