Culture management in university is a pattern of culture management which operates in organizational management in university. It regards value as a core management pattern that forms a team rich of cohesion to dig the positivity and creativity in order to achieve a goal that it creates excellent educational benefits through sharing a uniform value and behavior criterion. From the research all over the world normative studies are more than empirical research which brings organizational culture theories in company into campus and pays more attention to the basic concepts and theories. On the other hand more empirical researches focus on the practice in primary school and middle school. Based on these this thesis will focus on universities and take four universities in GuangXi for example using normative and empirical studies to discuss the situation of culture management in university and its future.Based on the nature of education it is appropriate to manage a university by cultural management. People who have independent personality and evaluation make the process of education as a cultural process. In that case university is not only a place which spreads knowledge and promotes the development of technology but also has the duty of promoting enlightenment and holy. So it is necessary to manage university by cultural management especially the phenomena that appears against the nature of education in universities.The construction of culture in university should regard its traditional central spirit (autonomy, academic freedom, academic ethic, humanist spirit etc.) as the direction of main evaluation. So the main path of cultural management in university is to diagnose the culture, integrate the culture, construct the culture and penetrate the culture in university.This thesis provides the situation of culture in university as evidence. After interviewing by cultural survey in university we found that universities are lack of a certain strong consciousness in culture, a core idea, a duty of constructing culture in campus. The degree of a healthy culture in university is far from the criterion of that. Here are some details as follows: the motto, the symbol and ceremonies are lack of deep meanings; less chance provides the faculty to participate in making decisions; a system is not rich in humanization; a platform gives everybody no chance to communicate freely; the facility cannot meet the need of students; the associations cannot make a full use of students'character. Meanwhile there are also some differences between different groups, facing different problems that have different opinions.After doing research it is suggested that teachers and students in university should have a distinct culture which is fit for the nature and function of their own. It also requires university as a cultural organization that can communicate, create culture and lead the social culture to develop. The culture in university pays more attention to multiculturalism. It not only contains traditional spirit of university, has cultural soul of a nation but also includes democracy, equality, tolerance and cooperation which stand for a new concept of modern culture. In addition a distinct direction of operating the university and an opening attitude towards various cultures are also included.This thesis illuminated a new management pattern in university which regards a uniform evaluation as the core. The main reason that we pays more attention to the learning of knowledge and technology than cultivating humanist spirit is to neglect the important role that the organizational culture plays in management in university. So a solution to this problem is to put cultural management into action. An exploration based on organizational culture has a significant meaning to the management pattern in university.There are two innovational parts in this research. First cultural management focused on university. It considered a core spirit as the direction of constructing culture in university to explore a way of management in university. Second this thesis paid more attention to the empirical research which is very different from the former research. Based on a dimension of some related researches it tried to describe a new direction in culture of university by SPSS10.0 for Windows 2000 to solve the problem that the former research didn't deal with.
