With the development of extensive mass fitness programs, different kinds of fitness programs, which could keep our physique sturdy, and bring pleasure to our body and mind, are enjoying high favor among people. Nowadays, Yoga is winning a world-wide popularity and affection, on the basis of its advocate of natural and balanced fitness theory, and thus it will gain good results. Meanwhile, it also draws more and more attention from the females in China. Based on the previous study, Yoga could better the shape and size of people, strengthen their physical conditions, and meanwhile, reinforce physical function and adjust people's mental health as well. At present, however, there is little research on the aspect of physical function Yoga may bring about. This thesis, consequently, fixing female yogis as the object of study, examines and evaluates the influence Yoga has had on people's physical function, taking heart rate variability as an important physical index. Different kinds of research methods, such as bibliography, experts consulting, experimentation and mathematical statistics, etc, have been applied for in this thesis, and 32 new yogis in Yoga gym are adopted as the objects of study who have taken part in the practice for a time span of 11 months according to the Yoga formula. And then the change of body position, breath regulating and meditation taken as kinematical variables, indexes of time domain and frequency domain of these objects before and after the practice of Yoga have been tested, in order to scientifically evaluate the effect of Yoga has on people's physical function from both microscopic and quantifiable aspects, which is believed to form the theoretical foundation for the further study probing into the influence of Yoga on improving people's physical function.Research Conclusions:1. The regular practice of Yoga for 11 months, according to the study, will increase HF when the objects are in resting state, which manifests that Yoga could boost the tension of pneumogastric nerve, and thus will strengthen the protective function of pneumogastric nerve to people's heart. But there is no obvious influence on the tension of sympathetic nerve.2. The HRV index appears to be more sensitive to the change of body position, and after the regular practice of Yoga for 11 months, the objects have shown less stress to the change of body position than before. This means Yoga could probably enhance the regulating and integrating ability of pneumogastric nerve and vegetative nerve.3. As for breath regulating and meditation, the results show that there is difference between the testing indexes, which, to some extent, mirrors the balance of vegetative nerve, before and after the experiment, and the data collected after the experiment is bigger than that before the experiment. Therefore, Yoga is considered to be greatly helpful in reinforcing the balance of vegetative nerve through breath regulating and meditation.4. Because of the regular practice of Yoga for 11 months, the heart rate in resting state and the restoration period of the objects tend to be lowered, and meanwhile, the restoration time seems to be shortened, which indicates that Yoga could better the heart function, make cardiac contractility more strong, increase stroke volume, and also improve the blood-supply capability of heart to human's body.
