In recent years, lots of data about the military demography and family planning have been accumulated. However, traditional management information system can not satisfy requirements of decision making. By establishing demographic data warehouse, applying multidimensional analyzing, data mining and knowledge discovering techniques to gain meaningful insights into statistical data about birth, health and so on, it is possible to make more informed decisions. Furthermore, it is also significant to accelerate the development of military information technology application.Following a thorough exploration on research of the demographic and family planning database and the status of data warehouse applied both at home and abroad, this research paper makes a systematic analysis of data warehouse techniques and implementation. From the perspective of function and structure, we have proposed a feasible solution and architecture of data warehouse of military demographic and family planning, and discussed technologies and key problems involved. We have completed the model design and extraction program for the military demographic and family planning data warehouse, succeeded in building the data warehouse, accomplished online analytical processing , and made it visible to front users by using reporting services. Moreover, three data mining model including decision making tree, clustering and time series analysis have been established, and intelligent analyzing to military family planning information has been implemented.This research is supported by the project of "military family planning management information system". Through statistical analyzing of part of military demographic data, we have not only extracted some valued auxiliary decision making information, but also laid the foundation for building military demographic and family planning decision supporting system.
