The perfect reseaches about the pragmatic of (MR) mentally retarded children has formed in oversea, but there havn't systemic researches in china with more scattered describe about communicate contexts, deixis, turn - talking and conversational strategis in pragmatic. The other side, in education institutions for MR , As one cause that lack of the sustains about rseaches of MR children's pragmatic, The development and implement of relevant curriculums about language teaching and verbal interation have many problems to resolve.This paper, combining the quantitative method with the qualitative one, studied communicative acts both in MR children aged from 4 to 5 years old and their mothers, try to explore their character of pragmatic development. By using the framework of Children's Language Development of Harvard University, we had analyzed the communication acts of mother-child dyads of Moderatlly MR children who are 4 years,4.5 years,5 years and 5.5 years old, each age group including 10 children repectivel and compare to the same age normal (NR) children to explore the collectivity feature of their pragmatic development; On the other hand, in the qualitative study, the paper , adopting method of observing video disks, analyses the communication acts of MR children more deeply.we found: the tatal pragmatic of Moderatlly MR children development by years, It mostly could be conclused from the added amount and elevated quality in three aspects of communication acts; the model that the pragmatic development of the Moderatlly MR children and the NR children are similitude. In the other side , Moderatlly MR children have their special feature of pragmatic, In conclusion, the pragmatic development of Moderatlly MR children is lagged by NR children, not only in quantity, but also in quality.
