A Study On Community Education Workers' Specialization

Under the macro-background of social transformation, community education and community education workers have been given new meaning, and to assume new responsibilities and obligations. However, community education workers nowadays are mainly working with the support of experiences and enthusiasm, but lack necessary expertise and professional qualities. The bottleneck that restricted the development of community education is the poor general quality and low specialty of the community education workers. Therefore, how to strengthen education and training for community education workers, and promote their professional development has become an urgent need.This paper, using the methodology of literature review, comparative analysis and participatory observation, tries to clarify the related theory of community education workers and apply investigation on the problems exist in the practice of community education. The research is consisting of three parts, first of which focuses on the question "what is professionalizing". In this part, the author has review some related theoretical research such as the theory of professionalism, researches on social education workers and researches on professionalizing of social worker. The second part mainly deals with the question "why professionalize", which includes "why professionalize", "how far from it", and "how to professionalize". The third part focuses on the question "how to professionalize", in which the author analyzes the factors that influence the professional development of community education workers, and provides advices on how to promote the professional development of community education workers from two angles: education or training, and policy support.This paper stands on the practice of community education in China, tries to find a practical way for the professionalizing of community education worker through the theoretical study on related researches and analysis of foreign experience. However, this paper still has deficiencies and need to be further improved and perfected.
