Foreign language reading is very important to senior high school students. By means of reading, students' both systematic and schematic knowledge is enriched, which is helpful to their cognitive development. The students must be taught how to approach and consider the text in order to become independent and efficient readers.Reading and understanding are indispensable factors. Understanding lays foundation for the significance of reading and reading without understanding means nothing. Due to the importance of reading to our students, this paper concerns the problem of reading teaching in the classrooms of Chinese senior high schools. And it also tries to find an effective approach to the reading teaching in senior high school classrooms. In the paper, the writer has studied modern reading theories, the schema theory and the teaching model theory and formed an effective teaching model for the reading teaching in the classrooms of senior high schools. That is "Complex training of four language skills during the process of reading within the schema frame". The whole paper contains five chapters:In the Introduction, the writer analyzes the background and the significance of this study.Chapter One discusses the related reading theories, including the definition of reading; the purpose of reading; the cognitive model of fluent reading and three reading process models: bottom-up model, top-down model and interactive model.Chapter Two introduces the Schema Theory, including the definition, characteristic, classification of Schema and its relationship with reading.Chapter Three studies the teaching model theory and discusses formation of a new teaching model: "Complex training of four language skills during the process of reading within the schema frame" and analyzes the present reading teaching models in the classrooms of Chinese senior high schools.
