Practice is important for atudents to obtain mathematical knowledge and abilities. However, how to keep students and teachers away from blind drill but still to help students get high scores in the Entrance Examination for Higher Education is very difficult. We think it a way for solving the problem to improve the students' abilities to solve mathematical problems. In this theses, we first describe the current status of Grade-12 students in solving mathematical problems. We then recommend several methods for improving Grade-12 students' abilities to solve mathematical problems base on the thing king theory and research into mathematical problem solving.
