Key to English teaching innovation is reading teaching innovation. The most important way of reading teaching innovation is to use the theory of discourse analysis to guide the English reading teaching in senior high schools. From eighteen years' teaching experience, the author has summarized regular teaching procedures, teaching contents and teaching methods.This paper combines the actual situation in senior high school to explore how to use the theory of discourse analysis in reading teaching in China senior high school.The paper first discusses the essence of reading. The discussion introduces the definition of reading , the theory of discourse analysis and reading models.The most important theory discussed in the paper is the theory of discourse analysis. The paper has expounded the definition, theory basis and main content. The theory basis for discourse analysis is schemata theory. The schemata include the language schemata, the form schemata and the content schemata. The background knowledge,stylistic structure,the knowledge of words and expressions and connection ways are all included in the content of schemata theory.To illustrate clearly how to use the theory of discourse analysis in reading teaching, the author introduces the four procedures of this method. The first procedure is pre-reading. The purpose for this procedure is to let students understand the main content of the text briefly so that they can form understanding ability of surface-structure. The second procedure is while-reading. The purpose for this procedure is to let students get more specific and detailed information. This will help them form understanding ability of deep structure. The third procedure is language-study in order to make student know more about the language knowledge to understand the passage better. The fourth procedure is post-reading. The purpose for this procedure is to cultivate students' inductive, deductive, judging, apprehensive and communicative ability.In order to know the feasibility of this reading teaching model, the author once had one teaching experiment.
