Impression management is the process through which people try to control the information received by others under particular circumstances to influence the impressions formed by them through human interaction or self-presentation. Impression management is an attempt to make others have positive impression and attitude of oneself so that the self image will not be harmed. It is a very common behavior in human interaction. It can be seen in various aspects of social life and has great influence in human relationship. The previous researches believed that impression management was not a real self-presentation. The purpose of it was to beautify oneself by cheating others. By further study, researchers know more about the actual significance of impression management gradually, realizing that it is an indispensable media in human interaction and it is becoming more and more important in sociology, psychology and management sciences.The previous research involving impression management during interview mainly focuses on how interview is affected by the style as well as strategy of impression management. Questionnaires were the main research method. This current research aims at discussing the integration role of impression management strategies in interview assessment during the complicated human interaction of interview and proposes the concept of "impression match".The first part adopts qualitative method, having deep interview of human resources workers in Shanghai and surrounding area in different fields. It is a discussion about the impression management of the candidates perceived by the interviewer and the attitude towards the influence management strategy. Based on this, its role in impression management during interview is also discussed. With result of the research, the media role of impressionmanagement was found. There are four steps: position impression—impressionmanagement—interview assessment—impression match. Impression managementcompletes its media function by conveying the personal information successfully to the interviewer. The core process of impression management's role in interview is "impression match"The second part adopts experimental method, verifying the role of impression in integrating interview assessment and how impression management matches in it from the interview assessment of two candidates who have different education background, working experience and impression management style.
