Objective: HO/CO system is an important antioxidant system in human body. In the present study, we established correlative exercise model to compared the effects of different exercise intensities on HO/CO system and antioxidant enzyme of rat aorta, and discuss the relationships as well as the mechanism in it.Methods: The rats had been divided into control group, low-intensity group, middle-intensity group and high-intensity group. The HO-1mRNA expression, CO production, SOD activity and MDA content in aorta of all the groups were examined. Results: Compared with the control group, the HO-1mRNA expression of the different intensities exercise were elevated by 25.85% ( P<0.05 ) and 27.27% (P<0.05) and 53..42% (P<0.05) , the CO production was elevated by 10.96% (P<0.05), 21.45% (P<0.01), 34.29% (P<0.01) , the SOD activity increased by 14.71%(P<0.05) , 16.97%(P<0.01) , 28.19%(P<0.01). Middle-intensity and high-intensity exercises had significant influences on the MDA content, but low-intensity had not significant influence on the MDA content. Compared with the control group, Middle-intensity group reduced by 14.59%( P<0.05), high-intensity group reduced by 26.49%( P<0.01). Furthermore , the HO-1Mrna expression, CO production, SOD activity and MDA content also had significant differences between all of the different intensities exercise groups. Conclusion:1. Exercise of different intensities can promote the HO-1mRNA expression and the CO production. Furthermore, under the intensity of 85%VO2max, higher the exercise intensity was, more significant the expression and production were.2. Exercise of different intensities can promote the SOD activity of rat aorta, and reduce the MDA content. Furthermore, under the intensity of 85%VO2max, higher the exercise intensity was, more the SOD activity increased, and more the MDA content decreased.3. The study indicates that, under the intensity of 85%VO2max, the antioxidant ability is correspond with the exercise intensity.4. Exercise of different intensities can significantly control the increase of the body weight. The study provide the evidence for effect of exercise on control weight. The study indicates that different exercise intensities should cooperate with diet to obtain more apparent effect..
