In the days of advocating education for all-round development, the method of whole history in teaching and learning comply with the need of new curriculum reform gradually catches the attention of the colleges'in academic and educational circles. The middle school history teaching should combine with the overall history viewpoint,emphasize the whole history in teaching and learning,so that the students can form a whole and related history thinking mode and have a sensation of the whole history. This is an important way to enhance the synthesis quality of the students.This article is divided into three parts. First, proving the essentiality of the overall history teaching and learning. Its necessity can be proved by the demand of the theory of whole history in history field,the demand of the talented persons'qualities in knowledge and economy society of 21st century and the demand of the characteristic of history discipline and so on. Next,unifying the characteristic of high school history education and the discipline teaching and still combining the history teaching practice in high school,it provides the examples of the whole history in teaching and learning and discusses how to implement the method of whole history in teaching and learning . It's just a superficial study that can carry on in several aspects: the teaching in and among the knowledge synthesis,the promotion of classroom instruction quality as well as the development of researching study. Finally, according to the need of advancing the education for all- round development and how the government, school and teacher carry out the method of whole history in teaching and learning. From idea to system, for specialized qualityof teachers to seepage consciousness, we propose a good solution to its smoothly practice.
