Dancesport is a form of dancing that combines sport with the artistic values of dancing. This form of dancing enjoys worldwide popularity, and is derived from ballroom dancing. It has gone through many changes due to the development of art and society, and the influence of sport. It is usually defined as a form of dancing performed by a man and a woman (or multiple pairs of dance parterres), utilizing dancing techniques and artistic performance to express different styles of high performance dancing. Officially introduced into China in 1986, it has gone through rapid development in the past 20 years. However, dancesport, being a form of dancing that originated overseas, has not had much time to develop in China, and therefore, the state of dancesport in Anhui is still quite backward, and is nowhere near the countries that and very advanced in this field. Due to economical and geological factors, dancesport began very late in Anhui province, and there is no research conducted in this field. "Without the backup of research, words are empty", and therefore, to help the development of dancesport in the province, an extensive and systematic research of the entire province is needed to find out the factors influencing the development of dancesport. With these results, solutions may be found that will aid dancesport in Anhui province in both theory and practise. The research methodology used for carrying out the research and formulation of solutions includes: reviews of other literature on the topic, interviews, questionnaires, statistics, and logical deduction.Factors that affect the development of dancesport positively may include: government policy; the steady economic development of Anhui; the successful forth national sports conference; proposed change in Chinese high school education; and the artistic spectator values of dancesport.
