Learning is the main activity of students, and classroom is the main place for the students learning. Former researches find that student participation in the classroom instruction process has significant effects on child development on cognitive, personality and socialization. Based on the analysis of the existing studies, the present study chooses 462 1—6-grade students from 4 primary schools in Changzhou as the subjects, investigates students participation characteristics and the correlation with the teacher-student relationships and the teachers' personalities. In addition, the author observes students participation state in two Chinese classrooms of Grade Five. At the same time, interview to typical individuals is carried out. Combining the quantitative and qualitative analysis, the study draws the following conclusions:1. There is no significant difference in students participation concerned with grade. The level of students participation isn't raised along with grade increasing.2. There is significant gender difference in students participation. Girls participate more actively, positively than boys do.3. There are significant differences in students participation concerned with academic achievement. The level of high achievers participation is higher than the medium and the low achievers, and the medium achievers' is higher than the low achievers'.4. There is significant role difference in students participation. Student leaders participate more actively, positively, conscientiously than the ordinary students.5. There is no significant group difference in students participation, but the seat difference is existed. The participation level of students sit in intermediate and back rows is higher than the students sit in the front rows.6. The level of students participation is influenced by the teacher-student relationship. The expectation from teacher, the conflict with teacher, the support from teacher and the acceptance to the teacher influences students participation notably.7. The teachers' personalities influence the verbal participation of students in the classroom instruction process.
