The Teaching and Research Group (TRG) is the basic unit of the teaching research manangement system, an integration of the administration, normal teaching and research , and a comprehensive organization covering administration and academy. TRG' s work affects the school teaching and management directly, vital to overall school work and the future of the school. However, for a long time, influenced by many factors, many schools haven' t attached much importance to TRG, neglecting the function of the TRG and considering TRG as an unworthy organization. The consequence of belittling the function of TRG is that many schools cannot put their policies into effect, cannot conduct teaching research probably, and cannot improve steadily. With the curriculum reforms in the middle schools, the new curriculum system is having the significant innovation and the breakthrough in curriculum function, structure, content, implementation, appraisal and management. Facing the new request to the education teaching goal, structure, content, way and appraisal, teachers should learn reconsidering, and through the research activities, develop themselves in the cooperation and the teaching. This urgently requests the TRG to strengthen its own construction, have substantial research activity content and enhance the quality of the research activities. So does the English Teaching Research Group.Based on the analysis of the current situation of TRG, the essay intends to find out the problems of the English TRG through investigation and talks between the teachers and group leaders, and make the countermeasures to improve the TRG construction including the five aspects like the environment, personnel, management, activity, culture constructions and therefore promote the function of the TRG of teaching .teaching research, training and management. This thesis, using W Middle School English TRG in S city as a researching case with the SWOT analytic method, has carried on the comprehensive analysis to W Middle School English TRG. It has also pointed out its superiority and the existence problems in development, and five aspects which constructs in the English TRG. It formulates the countermeasures, using its superiority, its excavation opportunity, making up its weakness, overcoming the threat and thus provides an effective way in constructing the middle school English TRG more perfectly, thus comprehensively promotes English TRG' s development, develops the school properly and harmoniously.
