The relationship between life and education is the eternal theme of educational philosophy as well as one of topics of the research of education theories and practice. This thesis presents a research of the concepts of life and education and the dialectic relations between them based on the former studies made by some scholars and attempts to provide the theoretical basis for getting rid of the dilemma of life and education.It falls into four parts:The first part depicts the theoretical and realistic significance of the research. Although many scholars put forward some theories on this issue, they cannot solve directly the current problem of serious disorder of the relationship between life and education because of limitations of those theories. Therefore, the present research is of great significance in both theoretical and realistic sense.The second part illustrates the concepts of life and education in this thesis on the basis of the summary of different definitions and their history of development. In the present thesis life is the existence and renewal of significant life; education is a guidance of the significance of life. In fact the pursuit of active meaning of life is the essence of original education.The third part explores the dialectic relations between life and education. First, it introduces the concepts of life and education from some educational philosophers, such as Spenser, Rousseau, Dewey and Tao Xingzhi, then depicts further the dialectic relations between them employing basic materialist dialectics.
