The road of Chin Modernization is rough and tortuous. In order to save country and her people, Chinese drew Western Doctrines into mainland of China, plenty of masterpieces flushed into the market of China like floodwater without dam. It created a way which used western theories to resolve the problem of China in the fields of thoughts. The movement advocated by oversea students changed everything including thoughts and behaviors, after that, many thoughtful people were conscious that the 'western theories' couldn't solve the problem of China. Examining the modern education of China, it marked the print of western, the civilization of ancient China were tortured into pieces. As wise Chinese in the East of the world, we embraced the ambitions of 'the technology of studying the enemy is in order to bring the enemy under control' in the beginning of colonization. In the position of double failure both breaking away humiliation and constructing in New Culture Movement and 'May forth' Movement, improve the self-criticism from system and theory to the surface of the culture and psychology. In this confused society in the early modern China, Zhang Taiyan advocated 'Chinese Quintessence', made efforts to protect the traditional excellent culture and tried to preserve Chinese customs in consciousness in order to inherit Chinese ancient culture.The thesis is combing Zhang Taiyan's thoughts systematically through perspective the background of Zhang Taiyan's 'Quintessence' education thoughts, understands the contradictions of social economy and the crisis of culture, and then expounds elaborately the formation and development in three aspects, therefore points out the origination of Zhang Taiyan's 'Quintessence' education thoughts, his special pilgrim road and promote him to think about the protection methods of excellent Chinese traditional culture. Confucian thoughts are not only the basic of Zhang Taiyan's thoughts, but thoughts of Quintessence, meanwhile western nationalism and traditional debate about Chinese Origination offer the philosophical origination and methodology, from then on, Zhang Taiyan devoted his heart into his Quintessence education thoughts completely. The research also analyzes the purpose and valuation, and does the contrastive research between nationalism and Confucianism, thereby finds the historical way out of quintessence education thoughts.At the end of the thesis, explores the historical valuation and modern magnificence. After all, it has great magnificence when western cultures are flushing in China today.
