Political socialization is one of the fundamental functions of political system. In China, college students, as a fast-developing group in the social system, have become an important force that can't be overlooked since China's adoption of the policy of increasing the number of college students at the end of the 1990s. The results of the political socialization of college students in China not only influences their own future life, but also influences the passing of the dominant Chinese culture and the running of political system. High education plays an important role in the political socialization of college students. Can the adaptation of high education keep up with the change of the time and the environment? Will political theory and practice have some effective changes? The answers to those questions will exert great effects on the political socialization of college students in an information age.Guided by Marxism Theory, based on politics, sociology, psychology and pedagogics, this thesis will review general theories on political socialization; study the features and the actuality of the political socialization of college students; find out the existing problems and analyze their reasons; and finally provide some adaptation measures for high education in China to solve these problems and to better this socialization. This study is a combination of theoretical and empirical study. Empirical study is a study of the political socialization of college students with the help of the theories from political sociology and educational statistics. Theoretical study includes a study of the actuality and the existing problems (including their reasons) of political socialization from both macro and micro points of view; and a discussion of the concrete measures for high education to solve these problems in this process.
