Teaching the history of math is very important in quality education. This paper, based on the history of mathematics and the teaching of mathematics, discusses the value in teaching the history of mathematics and how to reveal it. Beginning with the influence that the history of mathematics has exerted on the Ideas in teaching math, its reform and on the quality education, this paper dwells on the interactive relationship between the history of math and the teaching of math, and puts the stress on the significance and that the history of mats has to the research of teaching math. Second, this paper describes the roles that the history of math plays in teaching math from the aspects such as mathematical interest, ideas, way of thinking as well as students' morality and teachers' quality, etc. which shows the educational value in the history of math. The author puts forward his solutions to some problems existing in math teaching.Based on the above mentioned, the author analyzes some problems in the teaching of math history regarding its aim, textbooks and classroom work, The author thinks that the value of education of mathematics should be embodied in both textbooks and teaching activities. The paper puts forward some suggestions concerning the content of the history of math in textbooks and ways of making use of the materials provided by math history, which will do good for mathteachers to make full use of the history of math in class. Meanwhile, the author takes the Pythagorean theorem as an example in order to link the history of math with the teaching of math through how to collect data, make teaching plan and organize the class. The author thinks that using the history of math in teaching math can make the class natural and interesting. It is of vital importance to use the history of math in the reform of mathematical education.
