The present thesis is the report of a series tests and experiments on senior high school students on the relationship between their English learning anxiety in class and their learning achievement. The author has conducted in two southwest senior high school classes in Grade 3 in the past one year and a half. Based on the statistics, it is concluded that the anxiety level of the students in the classes being studied is, to some extent, negatively correlated with their English learning achievement. That is, the higher those students' learning anxiety level is, the lower their learning achievement will be, in a sense. In the meantime, it is evident from the results of the two questionnaire investigations and two examinations conducted before and after the teacher's anxiety-ease education during the whole school-term that the measures taken during the teaching process have a great effect on reducing the students learning anxiety in English class and improving their learning results. What's more, it even shows that the teacher's pains-taking instruction and kind help has played a positive role in student-centered classes. This thesis attempts to illustrate the active effect of taking some proper teaching methodologies and strategies to lessen the students' class anxiety during teaching process theoretically and practically. This thesis is divided into five chapters. Chapter one is the introduction of the purpose of the study and its significance, showing the current problems that exist in language teaching and learning. Chapter two reviews the literature on foreign language learning anxiety in class at home and abroad. Chapter three is the description of the research methodology and the procedures for data collection and analysis used in the study. A related experimental study and a questionnaire are carried out with the combination of quantitative and qualitative study to prove the presumed point of view, putting forward problems to be solved and measures to be taken to change the present situation. Chapter four reports the results of the experimental study and discussions. Chapter five is a conclusion of the research. Limitations of the study are stated and problems that are still unsolved in this thesis are posed in order to study in the future.
