Textbook as the main body of didactical material originally had the same connotation with it. Later, with the meaning of didactical material continually broadened and teaching resource increasingly enriched, gradually textbook became one kind of didactical material. This tendency of separation made textbook unloaded many functions that shouldn't take on by it and devoted to helping students to learn. Didactical function is the foundation of rationality and necessity of textbook's existence. While it is textbook excessively exerts teaching function and ignores learning use that make it on the one hand restricted teacher's professional ability, on the other hand blocked students learning effectively. All of this leads to textbook's existence crisis, consequently brings forward the issue of learning-orientation of textbook.The reason of appearance of textbook's learning tendency could analyze from three aspects, namely the essential characteristic of textbook, the pressing need of circumstance, and the inevitability of exploration of textbook compilation. According to those reasons, this paper tries to explain what is textbook from students' standpoint, and mainly studys problems as below:First, this paper summarizes researches on learning-orientation of textbook. By discussing the origin of learning-orientation of textbook, especially the feasibility and necessity of it, the paper analyzes the study status.Secondly, it analyzes the theory foundation of learning-orientation of textbook. Respectively discusses the inherent relation between textbook's learning orientation and curriculum theory, teaching theory, psychology theory, and knowledge theory.Thirdly, it discusses the connotation of learning-orientation of textbook and the characteristic of it. The concept of "learning-orientation" means the tendency of helping students to learn appearing in the new history background in design idea, choice and organization of content, present form and structure system. It is different from teaching-orientation, materialized, self-educated, and also has a close relationship with exertion of teachers' subjectivity and development...
