The progress of practical teaching quality has a very important sense in universities and colleges, it also meets the requirement of the combination of theories and practice, and the tendency is also following the demand of modern education. This paper elaborates the importance of improving the quality of practical teaching in colleges and universities. And from the aspects of the characteristics of agricultural disciplines and of the specialized characteristics of agricultural traditional advantage, it elaborates the special meaning of improving the quality of practical teaching in agricultural colleges.With the method of comparison, the paper analyzes the characteristics of practical teaching, pointing out that practical teaching has five basic characteristics such as theoretical feature and practicality, comprehensiveness and simplification, homogeneity and discrepancy, multi-efficiency and slow-acting efficiency, openness and unstableness. With the method of systems analysis, it analyzes the restricting factors in practical teaching quality, pointing out that practical teaching quality has object factor, subject factor and management factor, of which management factor is the crucial factor that restricts the improvement of practical teaching.The quality of practical teaching is waiting for being developing, it's quantities is not satisfied with the demand of students, the practical teaching in colleges is not suitable the development and demand of society and economy. And it also finds out the existing problems, for example, it doesn't have enough education and propaganda in the purpose and meaning of practical teaching; the effect of practical teaching is unsatisfied; the level of practical teaching quality still has much room for improvement; the quantity of practical teaching activities can not satisfy the requirements of students; practical teaching contents can not meet the economic and social development and the requirements of students; it has notable effect discrepancy in each practical teaching link; the effectiveness of some links is not very well developed; the contents of practical teaching is not rich enough; practical teaching methods...
