The university education of modern times is the precious inheritance in Chinese education history. The developments of university in any era are all under the influence of social politics, economy, and culture then. Modern China is still in the age of a political power changing in succession, the economy felled behind, the multicultural bumping. However the university education of China under thus bad social milieu acquired the development. It took several decades to make Chinese university be in the line with the most advanced western university at that time later to western social several centuries, so the experience and intelligences of developing university education at that time are worthy of inherit and carry forward.This paper focuses on the university concept of modern China, delineating the process of creating, developing, and changing in modern Chinese university concept. However, it is not to put modern Chinese university concept in order overall and thoughtfully, but puts forth effort to the perspective of university development and social demands. By trying to interpret modern Chinese university concept, we can acquire the interactive relationship between the university development and social needs in the history process.
