Currently,as a kind of leaning style, Cooperative Learning has been more and more widely applied in student-centered teaching practice, becoming a breakthrough and complement to traditional teaching style. This paper brings to light the connotation and value of Cooperative Learning by expounding its history and background. Cooperative Learning is not only a kind of learning style but also a kind of teaching strategy. With the basic organizational form of group study and the evaluating criteria of group achievements, cooperative learning is to advance the study by making the systematic use of the dynamic factors in teaching interactively. The very important reason why cooperative learning has become a popular and essential teaching theory is that it has a steady and scientific base. Meanwhile, cooperative learning is a complex activity, so its theoretic bases are also multiple mainly including the Group Dynamics Theory, Choice Theory, Classroom Instructional Technology Theory, Motivational Theory, Social Cohesiveness Theory and Development Theory. Based on these theories, it advocates that the different students may enlighten each other, renew each other and communicate with each other in the cooperative groups and bring about new thoughts. Within the working groups, every student has equal opportunity to participate, thus it can advance the development of every student.
