On The Times Characteristic Of University Patriotic Education

Patriotism falls into historical category, which connects itself with the prospect national survival and development, and the actual pursuits of the multitude in a specific period. And the specific content of patriotism varies quite a lot in different stages of social development. Patriotism education can be the eternal subject of ideological and political education for there emerged many problem and situations in the field ideology against the backdrop of deepening reform and opening-up, the development of socialist market economy and economical globalization. At the same time, patriotism education in institution of higher learning also faces up to unprecedented challenges. In order to the effectiveness and orientation of patriotism education, we are duty-bound to understand and grasp the features and requirements of patriotism education in this new era, expand and develop the scope of its content, and innovate the means and methods of patriotism education. Guided by relevant Marxist theory, the paper analyses patriotism education characteristic of the era by combining and applying obtained work experience, the methods and theory of ideological and political pedagogy. The paper subsumes four parts: starting from the challenges met by patriotism education in institutions of higher learning, the first part elaborates on the impacts on patriotism education by economical globalization, market economy and the development of internet.The second part focuses on the features of patriotism education in this era, illustrating the connotations and specific representations of patriotism education in this era.The third part probes into the modern methods and technology adopted in patriotism education, the reforms made in ideological and political education, etc to enhance patriotism education in institutions of higher learning.
