| Since the establishment of Chinese secondary education system at the end of QingDynasty, the system developed much more than before. But compared with Primaryeducation,Higher education,and Normal education, it still was the weak link in the entireeducational system. It was an important period for the development of secondary educationfrom 1912 to 1927. During this period, general secondary education had experienced a seriesof adjustments and reforms. After transforming the feudal old education and establishing thebourgeoisie's new education system,general secondary education had also experiencedseveral disputes and questions, such as the separation of liberal arts and practical courses ofstudy, the establishment of two-shift school system,the separation and elective of courseand the coeducation in middle school. Although these disputes and exploration didn'tbasically changed the disadvantageous status of the middle school , it did enormously causepeople's attention to the goal, function, curriculum and teaching method of secondaryeducation. At the same time, these exploration became the harbinger and preparation of thereform of school system in 1922. The secondary education hasn't finally obtained the pivotalstatus in the school system, and entered a recent development time from then until "Renxuschool system" promulgated and middle school's 3-3 divisional systems and thecomprehensive high school systems established.Taking the comprehensive collection of historical material and the theoretical analysisas a foundation, this article tries hard to hold several important questions andcomprehensively reveal complexity of the secondary education . It is helpful for thesecondary education reform today to summarize the historical experience and lesson of thesecondary education development earnestly. |
