On The Enlargement Of Enrolment Of Physical Education Specialty Of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

The enlargement of enrolment is of great importance in meeting the need of social economic development of our nation, complying with people's increasing educational requirement, speeding up the popularization of higher education, slowing down the pressure of enrolment and easing the pressure of employment in certain degree and solving the problem of re-employment. Meanwhile, it plays a positive role in optimizing educational resources, tapping potential of institution of higher learning and promoting the structural re-adjustment. However, it is not sufficient only increasing the number of enrolment. What we should do in the process of increasing the number of the enrolment is to pay enough attention to and handle well various unfavorable factors to guarantee the continuous and healthy development of our national higher education. Since 1999, the institution of higher learning of China has greatly enlarged the enrolment. The major policy decision of enlarging the enrolment put forward by Central Committee of the Party and State Council aims at keeping abreast of times of knowledge economy, meeting the need of people for higher learning and implementing the policy of invigorating the country through science and education. Higher education of our country has realized historical breakthrough and enter a rapid developing phase: the strategic positions of invigorating the country through science and education and giving priority to the development of education have been further established; the reform of managerial system of higher education has been accomplished as planned; the strong support of Central Committee of the Party and the leaders of State Council and relevant agency of our country; the system of national higher education and educational system of the study for a master's degree have been basically built up, which stores strength for further development, that it is inevitable to enlarge the enrolment. Physical education is not only an important part of our national higher learning but an important aspect of sports cause. At present, there are 16 sports institutes, 75 sports departments of normal university and 234 sports departments of common special training course in China. In the past 40 years, our national physical education has made great progress, and training system of sports specialized personnel has come into being, and this contribute much to training sports specialized personnel , developing sports science and promoting sports cause. At the same time, however, we also see that with the development of sports cause, under new situation, especially since the 1999's enlargement of enrolment, physical education is faced with certain difficulties. They are: faculty training of sports teacher is out of line with time, teaching quality is low, infrastructure is short, arrangement of curriculum is narrow, physical education divorce from social need and the hard situation of employment for graduates of physical institute. These problems hinder the development of sports cause and should be paid enough attention. The author of this article consulted a lot of document and interviewed several dozens of leaders, experts and teachers for writing the article, and made four questionnaire in November of 2003 and June of 2004 about the present situation of physical education of higher institute of Guangxi. The issues involved in the questionnaire are: higher institute of Guangxi's level and scale for setting up a school; the deficiency of infrastructure as teaching facilities, building and place, classroom, laboratory and whether infrastructure can meet the need of teaching; the situation of funds, teaching faculty, academic background of sports teachers, the overall level and reasonability of professional title; the rate of employment of students, job situation, social need; arrangement of curriculum and discipline. The author formed the conclusion on his discussion: the level for setting up school of higher institute of Guangxi is being promoted step by step, there are 4 sports institute of four-year programme; scale for setting up school is developing rapidly, the number of students increase year by year. But the deficiency of infrastructure as teaching facility, building and place, classroom, laboratory and the like is big; the funds for setting school in insufficient and its source is single, and the situation of shortage of funds which is hard to meet the need of teaching will exist a long time, and it influences the improvement of teaching quality and the optimization of conditions for setting up school; faculty is weaker, academic background of sports teacher and their professional title are low, the construction is not reasonable, the level of faculty needs improving. The job situation for student is severe; the career guidance for graduates of sports needs bettering; system of training talented people of Guangxi is single, the arrangement of discipline cannot meet the need of society well, and teaching quality is declining in some extent. Combining the advice of relevant leaders and experts with the feedback of sports teachers and students, the author proposes relevant countermeasure and suggestion to solve these problems and hope the article can provide some useful information for future research.
