21st centuries, being an epoch of knowledge-driven economy, our world are overwhelmed by an enormous trend of social information. With the dramatic development of information technology which includes Computer, network technology and communication technology, and the extensive application of computer and internet to human being activities, information which has become the most active and determinant factor in all aspects of society, play a significant role in the development of mankind. The challenge from information societies to mankind manifests the real challenge to the comprehensive abilities of human beings, and the information literacy plays an important part . The information literacy which has become the basic ability for each social member, is also an essential characteristic of information societies which advocate "learn how to learn" and "study all one's life". Currently, the cultivation of the information literacy has become the focus increasingly, not only for the educational circle but also for the public all over the societies. As we known, the university students are national's future and the successor of the societies. With the internationalization, netwok and simulation trend occouring in higher education circle, cultivation of information literacy has become one of the important goal of higher education.The information literacy is the extension of the traditional cultural literacy, which constituted by the information technology, information attitude, information knowledges and information ability. The information ability is the core of the information literacy which is includes acquiring information, analysing information, processing information etc.The evolution of the ages poses new requirements on education must have new functions. Education not only aims at building up students' knowledge foundation any longer, but also developing the student's characteristic completely;consequently, our school must let their students looking for the right answers indepandently, and transform our concepts from traditional ones which only focus on impartation of knowledges to new notion which fitting for development of modern scinece and technology: Teachers should change their concepts into the new ones which would be quolified qualifying for the trend of our century and the demands of new information technology, teachers also could use these concetps in teaching process simultaneously.Undoubtedly, studying the conditions and experiences from the development of foreign information education is benefit for our information education.Nowadays, some problems and difficulties still exist in our information literacy and information education.We must conduct do analysis accroding to our actual circumstances in order to explore a new education way of student information literacy which is consistent with the situation of our country. This thesis focuses on the effectiveness of theoretical research and practice, and gives some practicable suggestions for initiating information education.
