Professional values of the teachers (thereinafter mentioned as professional values) as an essential part of the teaching profession, in some ways and to some extent, have a great effect on the professional development of the teachers and also have related to the reform to be deepen of the teachers education.This paper goes deep into the meaning, the elements, the types, the forms, the functions and the influential factors of professional values, analyzes and distinguished the two main professional values promoted in China. At the end of the paper come some suggestions and strategies for setting up reasonable professional values on the basis of interviewing some teachers on the status quo of the professional values and a cause analysis of it. This paper is divided into five sections. Section One Introduction This paper begins with a brief introduction of the purpose and the reason for the scheme chosen, a summary of the achievements in this field, the trains of thoughts and methods adopted in this paper. Section Two Theoretical studies in professional values With analysis on the definition and meaning of the professional values, this section mainly deals with the deep meaning, elements, types and their forms, functions and th4e influential factors of the professional values. Section Three Status quo of professional values in China and the cause analysis a brief statement of the interviewing plans and interviewing process.In order to get a thorough understanding of the status quo of the professional values, of the causes of the status quo and to see the difference between the two types professional values promoted in China, this section states the researches carried out by interviewing some typical teachers in the east, the central part and the west of China together with the result from the researches which have been carried out in the other parts of China. Section Four Suggestions and strategies for setting up reasonable professional values In this section 6 pieces of suggestions and strategies for setting up reasonable professional values are put forward to offer references for the training and study of the teachers. Section Five Conclusion Based on the result of the study, Section Five states the questions which haven't been mentioned in this paper but have been found, in the course of the research, that attentions should be brought to.
