Teacher development has been widely studied m the last two decades. Researches about the curriculum reform and teacher development are mainly focused on the middle and primary schools theoretically; few researches based on the kindergarten are conducted.View to this, taking C Kindergarten in Shanghai as a case, the research aims to investigate (1) how teachers participating in the kindergarten curriculum reform gain professional development, (2) what changes the preschool teachers may experience during the curriculum reform.Multiple methods of data collection were used during the research process. In order to get direct information, the research spent two months in the kindergarten, including on-site observation, interview and document collection. All of the observations and interviews were recorded. Then all of the interview records were transcribed and were read repeatedly along with the field notes and documents.Through the analysis about the relation between the curriculum reform and teacher development, the research expatiated upon the theory of teacher development from three aspects, emphasizing to combine the outside demands and professional qualities, to emphasize personal development and construct ecological atmosphere, to combine the training of teacher educational institution and preschool-based training.In order to analyze the teacher development of the curriculum, the research described the course of the curriculum reform. During the process, detailed description of teachers' daily professional activities and strategies employed to enhance change is given, such as teaching observation, educators and peer reviewing, group discussion, all kind of training and so on. Based on this, the research described the change according to teachers' report, including: receptivity needs and motivation to the curriculum reform; habits and ability to reflect; ability and teaching behavior.According to the investigation of the case, some suggestions are given to improve teacher development of the curriculum reform:(l)aiming to the teacher development;(2)the preschool-based teacher training;(3)creating the cooperating and associate community;(4)insuring curriculum power in teacher.
