| Reading teaching has been receiving much attention in senior school English teaching. English teachers have been doing some research into this aspect attentively and have developed many effective teaching methods and strategies .In English teaching, we can find that if you want to improve the students' reading ability, you can not only depend on the textbooks. The only textbook can't satisfy the students' need and has no way to reach the demanded standard. Senior school English textbook and strengthened in topics, articles, vocabulary, etc. However, its materials are renewed slowly, the number is not enough, the width of knowledge is narrowly extended. In some degree, the improvement of the students' English is limited.Compared with the textbook, English newspapers and tissues have their features. They have new contents plentiful amount, various articles, and interesting stories. They are closed to life and in fashion. Using them as materials in reading classes can enhance the students' enthusiasm, enrich teaching resources, widen teaching ways and therefore develop the students' interest in English. And at last we reach our goal.In fact, reading is a meaning-making process involving an interaction between the reader and the text. Readers use mental activities in order to construct meaning from text. They do not read word for word but rather use their background knowledge, and various strategies. Therefore, it is of great importance for the teacher of reading to advance their understanding of reading comprehension by realizing the mental process of reading comprehension and how prior knowledge can enhance a reader's interaction-reading with the text and to find some strategies for successful teaching.In this paper, we will examine the process of reading comprehension and the role of schema in English press reading comprehension, and we'll focus on: 1. Psychological process of reading comprehension; 2. Schema theory; 3. Strategies for English press reading comprehension.
