The intention of the research is to study social distance between outlanders and natives based on the floating population survey in Suchou City. There are four aspects of progress of method. Firstly, it designs Bogardus social distance scale to measure natives' social distance and the reverse social distance scale to measure outlanders' social distance. Secondly, it is a bidirectional research on outlanders' and natives' social distance. Thirdly, it makes use of weak ties and ego central network to explain social distance. Lastly, it uses a new sample method. We made a sample frame by enumeration in a specific zone, and then carried on multistage probability sample in the sample frame. This research finds that outlanders' social distance and natives' social distance is dissymmetrical, outlanders' social distance is greater and more centralized than natives'. Enlightened the approach of social network and multilevel interdependencies, I bring forward and prove these four hypotheses from three aspects such as social class, social space and social network. The first hypothesis is that there is negative correlate relationship between social economic condition and social distance. It proved that female's social distance is greater and more centralized than male's. There is negative correlation between natives' social distance with education an occupation prestige. However there is negative correlation between outlanders' social distance with income and housing. Weak group is oppressed in society so they feel more social exclusion. The second hypothesis is that urban space expresses political and economic order, and then infects social distance. Research shows outlanders' social distance is greater in neighbor committee than in country committee, but natives' social distance is greater in country committee than in neighbor committee. Inhabitancy configuration and collective inhabitation work on social distance. The third hypothesis is that utilitarian and emotional relationship both can reduce social distance. The research tells us social distance has negative correlation with utilitarian relationship. The emotional relationship only act on outlanders' social distance, but doesn't do natives' social distance. The fourth hypothesis is that there is negative correlation between the size of network and social network. The analysis shows that the more size of network, the less social distance.
