Reflective teaching, which is contrary to experienced teaching, is a kind of instructional method. It counters the ideas of teachers as technician and competence-based teacher education. Besides, it is considered to be a tool, which can gain practical results, and make the teachers more active. The aims of reflective teaching are to develop the teachers and their students, and improve teaching and students' learning by reflecting and self-assessment.In this research, the definition of reflective teaching is: reflective teaching is a process of teachers' continual thinking and self-assessment by action research in instruction, a process of teachers' being life-long learners. It pays more attention to teachers' professional development in self-reflection and self-assessment, and modifying their implicit theory, then improve instructional quality.In the assessment of reflective teaching, teachers' self-assessment is the key content. In fact, in the teachers' instruction, every section of reflection is with judgment of values, so the process of teachers' reflective teaching is the process of teachers' self-assessment of their instruction. The contents of teachers' self-assessment do not only include their instructional activities, results, techniques and styles, but hidden instructional assumptions to make the instruction more rational.Besides, it is very necessary for the teachers to self-assess because of implicit theory. Teachers' implicit theory is related to their factual life, to some extent, it is a kind of understanding of their living style. Implicit theory is teachers' personal theory, so the teachers must be motivated to self-assess in order to develop their implicit theory.Self-assessment should be combined with action research. Actionresearch is an essential method, even to the extent that the teachers finish reflective teaching in the process of action research. All the time, we declare that the process of reflection is the process of self-assessment, and in the process of action research there are assessment and judgment, so teachers' self-assessment must be combined with action research.It is also an important content of teachers' evaluation for the school to assess teachers' reflective teaching. In schools, colleagues, friends and instructional leaders, and the assessment procedure can improve and deepen teachers' self-assessment and self-development, and they can motivate reflective teaching. At the same time, they can establish school atmosphere for reflective teaching.The process of reflective teaching is the process of teachers' self-assessment, so to some extent, the assessment methods of reflective teaching are the methods of reflective teaching.In the process of reflective teaching and assessment, there are some new characteristics in the relationship between the teachers and students: understanding and cooperation, teaching benefits teachers as well as students, association, interaction, inter-subject, and understanding dialogue.The assessment of reflective teaching is the process of teachers' building-up, development, and perfection, so there could not be an only way to assess reflective teaching, but there are some cases and examples of assessment of reflective teaching. After reflective teaching and assessment, to some extent, we can achieve the aims of developing teachers and students, improving instruction and students' learning.
