Compared with the Mathematics Teaching Syllabus(MTS) for Full-time Senior Middle School, the Mathematics Curriculum Standards(MCS) for Full-time Senior Middle School has made some change and development either in the content or in the form of MTS. In order to abolish the drawbacks existed in implementing MTS, it has made a profound development in the objective of the curriculum, the curriculum contents and the content objective of the curriculum, which has been established by MTS, directed by some scientific theories such as Marxist Theory of Knowledge,Study Theory of Constructionism,Multiple Intelligence Theory,Humanism Psychology,etc.In the general objective of the curriculum, some of the old objective has been adjusted or deleted while some new added. In the curriculum content, some of the out-of-date or rather complicated content has been cut out or modified again, and some new have been offered which represent the latest achievement in mathematical research in modern times, while the organization form of curriculum content has been adjusted,too. In the content objective, the requirement level of the objective has been adjust universally, and some new types of the objective have been brough into.Generally speaking, the adjustment made by MCS in MTS, based on ample evidence, is proper in extent. It conforms to the development trend of the times, and accords with the demands of Quality Education. So the development of MCS, based on MTS, is not only scientific and reasonable, but also necessary.
