In the new century, many countries in the world take elementary education curriculum reform as a strategy to strength their national power and accumulate international competitive power. As the core of elementary education curriculum reform, middle school curriculum reform plays an important role in curriculum reform. In our country, middle school curriculum system has been improved through reform. There are a lot of experience and lessons. Based on enough materials , this article reviews the road of the middle school curriculum reform of the People' s Republic of China and ponders over some important problems of it.This article is made up of six parts. The first five parts review the middle school curriculum reform in different periods after the foundation of the People' s Republic of China. According to their characteristics, this road is divided into five periods. They are the period of reform and imitation, the period of exploration indepently, the period of chaos and falling back, the period of restoration and adjust and the period of development and flourishing. The sixth part ponders over some problems in the course of curriculum reform. The writer thinks that our country has founded a middle school curriculum system that is fit in with the practice of our state. We have gained some achievement in the reform, such as: the aim of curricula becomes more concrete, the content becomes more near to the students' life, the structure becomes more fine, and so on. But there are also some faults, such as: the curriculum doesn' t pay enough intention to the students' quality of creation; the evaluation system can' t catch up with the curriculum reform; and so on. This article tries to analyse the problems that we should pay attention to in the reform. The writer thinks the teaching materials should insist the combination of unity and diversification, curriculum should base on the students' development and we should base on our own practice when we use the experience of other countries for reference in middle school curriculum reform.
