Purposes:During the intermittent exercise,we observed the dynamic change of LA,LDH,BUN and PH,bicarbonate concentration(HCO3") and compared the change of plasma glutamine concentration. The purposes of these investigations were to find the change rule of these indexes and discuss effect of oral glutamine on effort exercise.Methods:Seven male short runners (age:21.14+0.96yrs,weight:70.39+6.29kg) participated in this investigation,when they were in the period of their adjustment. Compared with themselves,the 1st time they were given 50ml distilled water,the 2nd time they were given 50ml (0.3g/kg BW) glutamine. Twice exercises were initiated 90 min after ingestion. Each time they completed three bouts intermittent Monark bicycle exercise. Each bout included three times thirty-seconds-exercise. There was a five-minutes-rest between each time and a thirty-minutes-rest between each group. LA etc were measured seven times pre-ingestion,pre-exercise,following 1st bout,following 2nd bout,following 3rd bout,6 hour later,next morning.Results:During exercise,LA concentration was significantly increased. Following 1st bout LA rapidly raised tol0.05mmol/L from pre-ingestion 0.71mmol/L following 3rd bout LA accumulated to 14.15 + 1.33mmol/L,PO.01;six hours later,the concentrations came bake to the level of pre-ingestion. The changing rule of LDH was similar to LA. During the exercise,there were significant relationship between LA and PH,HCCV,BE (r=0.009,P<0.05). Following LA accumulating,blood buffering potential declined. The supplement of glutamine could decrease these changes. The plasma glutamine concentration significantly decreased during intermittent exercise,P<0.05. Following 3rd bout,the concentration of glutamine reduced from pre-exercise 476.23umol/L to 421.03umol/L,next morning the concentration reduced to 354.45umol/L. After ingesting glutamine,the glutamine concentration of pre-exercise was 719.22umol/L,following 3rd bout the concentration reduced to 478.33umol/L,next morning it reduced to 318.98umol/L(P<0.05).Conclusions:These data suggest that oral glutamine has the possibility of improving blood buffering potentia and the supplement of glutamine increase the concentration of plasma glutamine. But we need to do more investigations to search after the mechanism and the best way and time of glutamine supplement.
