China Institute in America (CIA), as an unprofitable and nongovernment association, aims at improving the Sino-U.S. education cultural exchange and promoting Chinese American understanding. It plays an important role in disseminating Chinese American educational information, strengthening the contacts of Chinese American education cultural organizations, helping American people to comprehend Chinese civilization, propelling the exchange and cooperation of Sino-U.S. education and culture. This paper intends to study CIA and explore the connection between CIA and Sino-U.S. education cultural exchange. The author hopes to draw lessons from the paper for the further development of the Sino-U.S. education cultural exchange in the future.This paper includes 3 parts besides the introduction and the conclusion.Part A investigates the history of CIA and analyses its obvious decline simply. The other is enlarging social influence, strengthening the contacts and cooperations of Chinese American education cultural organizations.Part B explores the formation, business and characteristics of CIA. CIA's staff is composed of the board of trustees, the board of advisers, staff and teachers. CIA's characteristics includes unprofitable, nongovernmental and extensive.Part C sums up the contributions to Sino-U.S. education cultural exchange of CIA. As a nongovernmental association, CIA has become goodwill "ambassador" between China and America.
