The traditional English teaching is characterized by emphasizing Learning language knowledge, taking words, sentences and grammar as the dominant factors and separating the language form the culture. Accordingly it leads to students' incorrect receiving of listening and reading material and indecent contents and styles If speaking and writing for lack of cultural knowledge. In view of the above, English teaching in middle school shouldn't be pure practice in language and skills separated from cultural environment but should pay more attention to the relationship between language and culture. Therefore, this paper points out that cultural contents should be penetrated properly into English teaching in middle school, that is to say, English teachers ought to teach cultural knowledge on their own initiatives so as not only to enrich and improve English teaching, but also to help students to communicate with English natives in English in a correct, proper and decent way.The paper is divided into five parts:Part one is to expound the theory and the basis on the internal relations between language and culture, combine the present conditions of cultural penetration in English teaching in middle school investigated and analyzed by the author.Part two is to analyze the internal meaning of culture.Part three is to explain such things as objectives, orientations, contents and principlesin penetrating cultural knowledge into English in middle school.Part four is to provide some ways to penetrate cultural knowledge into English teaching in middle school. In the author's opinion, in classroom teaching, English teachers should point out the differences and similarities between Chinese and English, excavate the cultural connotations of vocabularies and lead students to understand English culture through multi-channels and multi-visual angles. In a word, teachers ought to combine organically language teaching with cultural penetration to improve students' abilities of transcultural communication.Part five is about the acquirements for teachers, teaching material and syllabuses in the course of cultural penetration in English teaching in middle school, Teachers should acquire correct standpoints of teaching and students, comprehend deeply the relationship between language and culture and help students to all-around develop.
